Since Ali Brown started working with women business owners years ago–and she’s worked with thousands at this point–she immediately noticed *how different we were* compared with men who start businesses.

Ali says, ‘When I get to talking with these women, and ask them about *their TRUE reasons for starting a business*, I listen to the words they use:

Words like ‘purpose’ and ‘passion’…

‘mission’ and ‘message’…

‘freedom’ and ‘lifestyle’…

‘love’ and ‘family’…

‘prosperity’ and ‘abundance’…

It was obvious these women were using this opportunity–creating a business of their own–to *step into who they were really meant to become*.

Nowhere did I hear they wanted to ‘play a bigger game, dominate their market, kill their competition, do the biggest launch in their industry’, or just make a ton of money. Nothing wrong with that, but those goals are from the old boys’ biz playbook.

While most guys (and some women) using the *old* model still choose to compete, conquer, kill, and ‘go bigger’…

We choose to ELEVATE.

We choose to step into who WE truly are, and design a lucrative, purposeful business around that.

*It isn’t the easy route all the time*.

Layers are removed, walls come down, and fears emerge as we open our hearts and minds during this leap of faith.

But *there is no greater joy or reward* than making a living being yourself, doing what you were meant to do, in a business designed around your personal lifestyle, and–hell to the yes–making great money, to boot!”

The Elevate Revolution is here, ladies and gentlemen.

And it’s time to dig in DEEP on Ali’s *upcoming LiveCast* THIS THURSDAY, May 3.

When entrepreneur mentor (and ABC’s “Secret Millionaire”) Ali Brown started her first business 12 years ago out of her tiny kitchen in NYC, all she had was an idea, an old computer, and a bit of gumption to actually try being a business owner.

Those first few years were rocky for sure. In fact, after today coaching hundreds of business owners, many who are starting their first ventures, Ali believes your first THREE years in business are typically your *toughest* by far.

Ali says, “In my experience, this is also when most of you want to GIVE UP. You may think:

‘This is just too much‘, or
‘I have no idea where to start‘, or
‘I’m so overwhelmed and not sure where to focus!

The GOOD news is, if you can get through these first three years with the RIGHT information, plan, and mindset, you can be SET for life! But it’s sad that many give up.”

That’s why Ali’s hosting a special FREE CALL next week that will share the *KEY elements to making your business WORK during this foundational phase.*

It’s called “Solid Steps to Success”, taking place *THURSDAY, March 15, 2012.*

This call is SPECIFICALLY for those of you who are in your FIRST three years of a business venture.

Go here now to see everything Ali will be covering on this one-time only, FREE call!

Mistakes To Avoid When Creating Passive Income

by Fabienne Fredrickson www.clientattraction.com

When your practice fills and there is no more room for new clients, you may decide to raise your rates, create a waiting list or even create a passive income stream. All three are great options but for today’s video strategy, I want to address two of the most common mistakes entrepreneurs make when creating passive income. These tips will save you a lot of time and frustration and will ultimately make you more money in your business. Ready?

Passive income allows you to provide what you do right now in your practice without you actually having to be there to deliver it—yet your clients still get the same results. It involves creating something once that you can sell many times over. I’ve been creating passive income in my own biz for a very long time. But I see many people who are self-employed make a lot of mistakes when creating passive income so I want to share two of those mistakes with you today so that you don’t make them in your own business.

Mistake #1: Creating a passive income program or service before their private practice is full. I’m not saying you can’t do that but from what I’ve experienced, if your practice is not yet filled to capacity, you may not be making a lot of money. Creating a passive income product can sometimes take a long time. My own Client Attraction Home Study System, from beginning to end, took me three years to create. Yes, it’s very complete, it’s very full, and it’s one of our best selling products. But it took me a long time to create it. For some people in the process of creating something new, they take their eye off the ball of marketing their private practice—which means that they spend all their time on the product and they neglect getting more clients. But here’s something very important to consider. In the beginning of your business, the fastest path to cash is through private clients. I’ve experienced this myself and my private clients have experienced the same thing. The idea is that you want to fill your practice first, and never take your eye off the ball of marketing it before you create a product.

Mistake #2 is creating a product too early before they have a list. If you have only 12 or 120 people on your ezine list, imagine that only .01 percent of your list will actually buy your product. That doesn’t leave a lot of buyers! So, until you have a larger list you may not sell a lot of products. You’ve got to pay attention to this.

Your Video Assignment

I want you to focus on filling your practice first, while at the same time building your list. While you’re doing this, you can start thinking about what to create. Then, once your practice is full and you have good income coming in and your list is substantial (because remember, only a percentage will buy…)that’s going to be the best time for you to create a product or program to use as a passive income stream. Congratulate yourself, you’re making huge strides in your business!

I was on the phone with a client yesterday, and she was in complete overwhelm with her business. I walked her through my priority process, which helped greatly, but she still needed some clarity around making a major decision about a next step.

“I feel like I’m out of control and I don’t even have time to spend on making sure this is the right decision,” she said.

“Do you want me to tell you what to do?” I asked.

“Yes,” she said.

“Okay then. Go for a walk. Even better, go sit on the beach or in nature for a few hours. And take a day off. A FULL day off—no work or email or anything.”

Silence.

“Ha ha, it’s a joke, right?” she responded.

“I’m dead serious. How can you HEAR the answer if you keep swimming around in noise? Most of which is your own making.”

After a bit more conversation, she got it. And adding a daily practice to support her business with this “space” has changed her life.

We spend a lot of time dealing with what I call “the mice in our heads”. We beat ourselves up for things we’ve done in the past, worry about how to do things perfectly in the future, and obsess about all there is to do in the NOW.

To relieve ourselves from the internal chaos, we dive headfirst into as much busywork as we can. And then, like my client above, we feel completely out of control, or worse, out of touch with our true desires. This is why—although I’m a huge advocate of getting things done—I also believe the MOST important time of any day for entrepreneurs is your quiet time.

Let me share a secret with you: I NEVER get true clarity, great ideas, or brilliant answers while sitting at my desk or while working on my computer. They ALWAYS generate when I give myself space and silence.

In order for me to receive what I call my “Divine Downloads”—the answers or a-has—I need to clear some RAM in my brain. Just like on your computer, if you have 20 applications open and running, they will use up all your energy. You won’t get what you need. A reboot is needed! So clearing your head and opening up for answers is the key. Below, a few steps to gradually cultivate a daily quiet time practice of your own…

STEP 1: Identify How You Can “Connect” Best

Quiet time doesn’t mean you have to sit and meditate. If you can do that, awesome. But I have trouble with being still too long! (Unless I’m sleeping!) What works best for me is joyful movement… a walk along the shore, paddling in the ocean on my board, a hike, or going for a rollerblade. Or if I don’t have much time, even just a quick walk around the neighborhood.

Look at what is meditative to YOU. Find something you are good at that you don’t have to think about, so you can get into a zone. Many people have these moments while driving, playing an instrument, knitting, dancing, etc.

As I have grown spiritually, I’ve come to call this practice my “Daily Devotion”. It’s my time to connect with Spirit, give thanks for my blessings, and ask for help with any challenges in my life and business. (If you don’t use the word “Spirit”, insert your word of choice in that place—God, Source, Universe, your higher conscious, etc.)

When you are in this meditative state, you open your heart and your mind and truly connect with your spiritual nature. Call it what you will, but for me it’s connecting to Spirit. It’s surrendering your mind in order to connect with something deeper.

STEP 2: Make Your “Daily Devotion” a Daily Habit

Most people say they don’t have time for quiet time. That’s just an excuse though. Every one has the same 24 hours in her day. Yes we all have different circumstances and responsibilities, but the question is: How do you spend the time you have?

If you can’t find 20-30 minutes a day to get out of busy mode and connect with Spirit, it’s likely you are out of alignment and are reacting on a daily basis—and that’s not the best space from which to run a business.

The truth is, it’s not really a time issue, but a priority issue. You don’t have time for everything. No one does. You just have to make time for what really counts.

Even if you are short on time, if you start to put Spirit first in your life, I guarantee you’ll come to find that you have MORE time. Just try it.

If you haven’t done this in a while, just start to make some quiet time for yourself every day. Start with 5 minutes, then extend it to 10 minutes, then 20, until you find your personal sweet spot. For me, it’s in the mornings, after I answer some emails and have my coffee.

STEP 3: Start a Dialogue… as Much as is Comfortable to You

Once you’re comfortable with your quiet time, you can start to add in a bit of dialogue— whatever aligns with your beliefs or faith.

Back in 2004, I picked up the book Conversations With God by Neale Donald Walsch. In the book, Walsch shares his experience of how an angry letter he wrote to God turned into a back and forth dialogue. Answers from some inexplicable source came to him.

A similar experience kicks off the best-selling memoir in Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love. Who can forget that torturous scene in the bathroom where a voice from somewhere saved her from absolute despair?

Quiet time allows you to hear answers. You just write down a question, and listen, and see what comes up. At first, you think you’re just making it up. But then, you realize later that what came to you was a FLOW of ideas.

Remember, how you tap into Spirit can change from day to day. One day you might need a 10-minute walk around the neighborhood. Another day, you might need a few hours to reflect and make space for your ideas to flow.

The point is to get into the HABIT of connecting with Spirit. And once you master the art of being quiet, you can start to hear the whispers of the Divine—the voices that have been trying to reach you all along.

Entrepreneurs: I’d love to hear YOUR practices along these lines. How do you make time to hear what you need to hear? Please share your COMMENTS below!

by Fabienne Fredrickson www.attractclients.com

There’s comes a point in your business where you will be so busy with current clients or other things that you’re doing that there just won’t be any more time left in the day for you to offer to new clients. Because you’re so busy with the day-to-day aspects of your business, you have no time left to offer to a new client and get paid for it.

One of the best ways to make more money in your business and to get more clients is to outsource and delegate things that you’re doing right now that don’t really bring in that much money. We’ve talked about how to delegate before and really looking at how much you make per hour if you’re doing your brilliance work and how much somebody else could be paid to do some of the other stuff that shouldn’t really be done by you anyway, and frankly is not your brilliance work; it’s more like your competence work—something that you’re competent at or something that you may actually be incompetent at.

People always ask me, “So what do you delegate?” I have a list of 101 things that I share with my clients about what they must be delegating to make more money in their business and to work less. I would like to narrow that list down for you and give you three or four things that you can start delegating right away, especially if you are on a shoestring budget and you are someone who is just hiring their first assistant or their first admin or virtual assistant. There are some categories of things that will make sense if you are not independently wealthy and you don’t have a ton of cash.

Your Video Assignment

The first thing that you want to start delegating is anything that you’re not good at doing. If you’re not good at doing it, especially if it’s administrative and does not bring money into the company, you must immediately outsource or delegate. Have somebody else do that because if you’re incompetent at doing it, not only are you not doing it well but you’re taking so much longer to do it than somebody else would. So immediately write down all the things that you are not good at doing in your business and let’s outsource that and delegate that.

The second thing is the stuff that you don’t know how to do. For example, when I hired my first long-term virtual assistant, immediately I delegated and outsourced to her the html of my ezine. Why? Because if I knew that I took some steps in doing things differently and really upleveled the look of my web presence, I would get more clients and make more money. But I didn’t know how to do html and in fact, I tried to buy DreamWeaver on eBay many, many years ago and soon asked myself, “Why did I buy this,” because I was never going to get good at doing DreamWeaver or any html.

Third, is the stuff that you simply don’t have time to do that eats up all of your time. For me in the beginning, scheduling was something that I could do and at first it made sense. Why would I hire somebody else or delegate it to somebody who doesn’t know my schedule? But over time the more and more clients you have, the more it takes time to schedule them and many of the other administrative things.

Finally, delegate anything that is outside of your brilliance work, including anything that does not make you money. When you start to delegate or outsource those four things, it creates some free space for you to market more, apply more of the Client Attraction principles that I’m always telling you about and to fit in more clients in order to make more money.

So when you start to delegate these four things, you actually make so much more money that it pays for the person that you just hired.

Do You Have a Client Who Won’t “Do The Work”?

by Kendall SummerHawk

One of the most rewarding aspects of business coaching is the dramatic results that clients can achieve with your expert mentoring and support. It’s an experience that raises your vibration and expands your potential to help more people.

But every now and then, you may have a client who, despite initial appearances of enthusiasm and readiness, essentially refuses or resists taking action – and thus experiences little or no results.

At first it’s heartbreaking to watch this behavior unfold. Then it becomes frustrating. Eventually you may find yourself downright angry or resentful or doubting your abilities – and this is not a helpful place for you emotionally, nor for your client.

So what do you do when your client simply won’t follow through on her work?

Here is a 4-step process for helping turn the situation around:

#1. Schedule an Open Conversation

Acknowledging that there is an issue can be difficult for both parties and it’s easy to put it off in hopes that the client will figure things out and fix it herself. The fact is, however, that you wouldn’t be the powerful coach she hired if you didn’t provide feedback when she’s struggling.

The sooner you have this conversation, the better it’ll be for both of you. Issues like this create negative energy that affects you beyond the time you spend on this one client – so it’s critical that you step up and take the lead to get the situation resolved.

#2. Clarify the Client’s Goals and Action Steps

Sometimes the client is genuinely on the wrong track with her goals. Make sure that they are still viable and actually hers – not yours or someone else’s. If the client has allowed her goals to be influenced by others, she is far less likely to follow through on them. On the other hand, challenge her if she tries to use weak excuses for downgrading her goals.

Also make sure that she isn’t lacking some practical content or skills that would help her to accomplish her goals. Sometimes those missing pieces aren’t obvious to the client and require an outside observer to identify. Then you can either schedule mentoring time or point her in the direction of appropriate resources.

#3: Tap Into the Emotional Undercurrents

It’s possible that your client has personal issues that she hasn’t discussed with you – and those issues may be impacting her performance. You may not need to know the details, but simply being aware there are issues can help to clear the air around missed goals. Ask the client to be specific about how her work is impacted, and then set new action steps that meet her needs.

More often than not, however, there are underlying emotional blocks, such as fear of failure, lack of self-worth, or inability to follow through on commitments. These challenges need to be brought into the open (whether or not for the first time) and addressed courageously. You may have to refer your client to another coach or even a counselor, depending on the issue and your skill set.

#4: Express Your Heartfelt Support for the Client

Being in a stuck place, regardless of the reasons, is painful for anyone. Let your client know that you’re there to support her through these challenges. Sometimes just knowing that there’s someone who truly cares about her goals and her struggles to achieve them are all a client needs to get her back on track.

Be careful not to let your compassion turn into another round of accepting excuses and missed goals. Ask the client to commit to a revised set of goals and actions steps, and then expect her to stick to them, coaching her with your new understanding of her situation.

Client attraction is based upon the Know-Like-Trust Factor. For people to want to hire you or refer you they’ve got to know you, like you, and trust you! The sooner they get to know, like and trust you, the sooner they become paying clients. When you first started your business you did a lot of your marketing one-to-one. You were networking and speaking and talking one-to-one with referral partners. Once your practice gets full, the only way you can make more money is to leverage yourself. One of the ways to leverage yourself is by leveraging your marketing.

I want you to always be thinking about that—leverage your marketing. One of the ways to do this, it to use technology. This is what we teach our Platinum level and above clients –just how can you leverage your business.

I recently spoke with a woman who was so excited to finally meet me live and in person. “Oh my gosh. It’s you!” she said. “You’re in the flesh in person. I feel like I know you so well because I watch all your videos.”

You see, she felt she knew me in a very short period of time. I think she first heard about me two months ago and she is now in one of my higher level programs—in just two months! She’s perfect; she’s so yummy. We adore her. What used to take several years of building—that Know, Like and Trust factor got condensed into a period of weeks.

This is what I want for you too. I want you to think about how you might already be using video in your marketing and if you are, that’s fantastic. If you’re not yet using video, it’s time to leverage what you’re doing in terms of your marketing. It’s not just written words on paper. They can see you. They see your expressions. You can be emotional, funny, tender, cheeky, laughing—all aspects of your personality can come out on video. Again, it speeds up that Know-Like- Trust process.

Your Video Assignment

If you’re not already using video in your marketing, I want you to start looking around at what I’m doing, what other people are doing, and see what you can implement into your own business.

If you are already using video in your marketing, then I want you to see what you would need to do to multiply that; multiply your video usage, multiply your effectiveness with video and multiply the number of clients you can attract using video.

Good luck!
